The Igbo capital of Enugu is as vibrant today as it was when coal was first discovered in the area. There’s plenty to see and do, including the National Museum, which features fascinating tribal artefacts, textiles and weapons, and the absorbing Ogbete Market, packed with handicrafts, souvenirs and household goods.
Religion is an important part of city life, so make sure you take in the Holy Ghost Cathedral near the market, whilst everyone wants to be seen at Enugu’s coolest venue, the cosmopolitan Aphrolounge. Finally, when you’re hungry the place to be is Station Road, packed with local chop houses offering great value for money.
