Kaduna is an important trade centre in Northern Nigeria, with its busy rail and road junction providing a key transportation hub for the surrounding farmland. It is home to the absorbing Kaduna National Museum and the Gallery of Nigerian Prehistory, which is packed with amazing exhibits from Neolithic times, as well as a recreation of a Hausa village behind the museum.
Most of the local market, off Ahmadu Bello Way, is devoted to mainstream consumer goods, but you can also discover some authentic local gifts for friends and family. In particular, you should find plenty of textiles, leather goods and distinctive Kaduna pottery.
