Capital of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Kinshasa is the largest city in Africa, with a population of more than ten million and the third largest metropolitan area on the continent. After decades of armed conflict, the city is once again home to some excellent infrastructure, with Chinese-funded reconstruction taking place all over the city.
In particular, you’ll be amazed by the vibrant arts scene, with stunning paintings, masks and statues displayed at the Musée National de Kinshasa and along the Boulevard 30 Juin. Meanwhile, wildlife lovers will adore Lola ny Bonobo, a delightful sanctuary for the uncannily human-like bonobo apes. You’ll also be amazed by the local cuisine, with giant snails and crocodile on offer to the more adventurous gourmet.
