October 30, 2008 marks the second anniversary of Nigeria’s fastest growing airline, Arik Air.
Starting with three brand new Bombardier CRJ900 at inception on October 30, 2006, to an expanding fleet of 18 aircraft today, the company has emerged as Nigeria’s largest commercial airline.
Arik Air’s huge investment in the nation’s aviation sector has been applauded by the Federal government.
The Minister of State for Air Transportation, Mr. Felix Hyat, gave the commendation on Tuesday, July 29, 2008, on the occasion of the signing ceremony of a N35 billion loan syndication agreement between Arik Air and a consortium of six financial institutions for the acquisition of five brand new Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. The six financial institutions include Zenith Bank, Union Bank, Intercontinental Bank, Skye Bank, First Inland bank and Afribank.
Nigeria’s number one airline, Arik Air has added another feather to its cap as it received global acclaim at the 22nd International Quality Summit hosted at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York on May 26, 2008.
The International Quality Summit Award was presented to Arik Air in the ‘Gold’ category in recognition of commitment to quality, leadership, technology and innovation.
Arik Air’s leading role in Nigeria’s aviation industry has been acknowledged.
At the annual Thisday awards held in Lagos, Arik Air beat other operators to the prestigious Thisday Airline of The year Award.
